Assignment one: the website

Project English speaking Countries CE

Part one: Website

Your teacher will devide you in groups of 2 or 3. In total we’ll get 10 groups and each group will get one of these subjects (all countries, regions or capitals):

England                                          Wales                                   Scotland

Ireland (incl. North Ireland)             USA                             Canada

Australia                                        New Zealand                 New York

London

If we find ourselves with more groups, we have these extra subjects:

India                                     South Africa

Guyana & Belize                      Trinidad and Tobago & Malta

Jamaica & Bahamas

* We are well aware that one subject seems easier to you than the other, but keep in mind that it’s easier to come with new information and fresh ideas on a less well-known country than , for instance, on the USA.

About that “country” , you’ll make a website for pupils all over the world from the ages 12 to 16. In English ofcourse.

Your website needs to include at least the folowing:

-       - general introduction on the country

-       - some history (make a selection!!!!)

-       - some information about politics/government and education

-       - a list of famous/important people with a short description (give links to a good website where people can find more information)

-       - information about music (incl. the national anthem) (traditional & modern)

-       - information about media (TV programmes / newspapers / radio stations etc.)

-      -  information about language (+ accent + other languages spoken?)

-       - you need to include at least on subject extra of your own choice (for example: sports, films, special days/holidays, food, geography, money, daily life, weather, traditions, legends), but you are allowed to add between 1 and 5 extra pages.

-       - You need to have at least one video on your website and at least 3 links to other pages.

-       - Source list

Don’t forget to take a look at the rubric (standard for evaluation) for websites.
